Progress is achieved when information is shared. A select few have access, while others are left searching, resulting in frustration and fewer solutions. Therefore, it is important we share what we have learned. This is how we broaden access to varying individuals.

Share Life Gifts, Inc. Scholarships announced (January 2025): Share Life Gifts, Inc. is dedicated to empowering underserved communities by providing accessible and comprehensive resources that promote educational, health and economic advancement. We strive to bridge gaps in the community by curating information on a wide range of essential topics, enabling individuals to cultivate generational wealth and enhance their quality of life. Our mission is to dismantle barriers to knowledge, ensuring that everyone has the tools and information necessary to thrive.

Share Life Gifts, Inc. aims to inspire a culture of learning, resilience, and empowerment within our communities by creating a centralized online platform that offers diverse, user-friendly resources tailored to the unique needs of underserved populations. The organization fosters community collaboration through educational initiatives that promote knowledge sharing and skill development, while also equipping individuals with financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills to build generational wealth. Additionally, Share Life Gifts advocates for awareness of the systemic barriers faced by these communities and champions equitable access to resources. The organization is committed to adapting its offerings in response to emerging challenges, such as those highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, and addressing the unique challenges faced by many regarding work-life balance, childcare, and career advancement by providing targeted support. 

Scholarship awards will be up to $1,500. Applicants will receive determinations by May 1, 2025.

 Eligibility Requirements: 

1. Must be a member in the Learner community with Share Life Gifts. 

2. Must be in an underrepresented community or first-generation college or trade school student. 

3. Must demonstrate a financial need.    

4. Community involvement/ Community Service – Must attend of Building Community Career Symposium session held by Share Life Gifts, Inc. is required along with a minimum of one follow-up session with a SLG Coach discussing progressive career options post symposium attendance. 

5. Leadership Roles: Participation in clubs, organizations, employment and/or community initiatives. Active participation may be demonstrated by leadership role(s)/officer positions held and is desirable. 

6. Choose one of the following to write an essay of no more than 250 words.  

  • A statement of purpose outlining career goals and aspirations. 

  • An essay discussing personal challenges and how they have shaped the applicant.

8. Provide a resume of professional/academic and community activity accomplishments.

COVID-19 At Home Testing: The government’s emergency declaration ends May 2023 that gave Americans access to free home testing kits either through the federal government or insurance plans. However, those in the Medicaid program for low income individuals/families, can still receive free tests through September of 2024. Call your health plan provider to get specific guidance on your current coverage.

Before you throw out at home tests for an expiration date, check here to see if the FDA has extended the shelf life. This will prevent you from throwing away good tests.

Mental Health Information: There are several support organizations that have free information. Seek out one that best meets your needs. Look for classes and trainings to better inform you about these important health issues. For mental Health specialist who understand the unique needs of the African American Community check out Christian Counseling Group, LLC located in Columbia, Maryland.

Youth Musical Instrument Reduced Rental Program: Share Life Gifts, Inc. is collecting instruments in good playable condition for the purpose of building a reduced fee rental program for school aged children. The goal is to keep their access and engagement with the arts as long as possible encouraging them to continue playing perhaps even into college and beyond while minimizing the financial strain. By offering low cost instrument rentals children will be able to experience longer participation rates. Woodwind, percussion, and electric instruments in good working condition are being sought. No instruments larger than  a small coffee table can be accepted. Thank you for your assistance.
