Resources

Progress is achieved when information is shared. A select few have access, while others are left searching, resulting in frustration and fewer solutions. Therefore, it is important we share what we have learned. This is how we broaden access to varying individuals.

RESOURCES:

COVID-19 At Home Testing: The government’s emergency declaration ends May 2023 that gave Americans access to free home testing kits either through the federal government or insurance plans. However, those in the Medicaid program for low income individuals/families, can still receive free tests through September of 2024. Call your health plan provider to get specific guidance on your current coverage.

Before you throw out at home tests for an expiration date, check here to see if the FDA has extended the shelf life. This will prevent you from throwing away good tests.

Mental Health Information: There are several support organizations that have free information. Seek out one that best meets your needs. Look for classes and trainings to better inform you about these important health issues. For mental Health specialist who understand the unique needs of the African American Community check out Christian Counseling Group, LLC located in Columbia, Maryland.

Youth Musical Instrument Reduced Rental Program: Share Life Gifts, Inc. is collecting instruments in good playable condition for the purpose of building a reduced fee rental program for school aged children. The goal is to keep their access and engagement with the arts as long as possible encouraging them to continue playing perhaps even into college and beyond while minimizing the financial strain. By offering low cost instrument rentals children will be able to experience longer participation rates. Woodwind, percussion, and electric instruments in good working condition are being sought. No instruments larger than  a small coffee table can be accepted. Thank you for your assistance.
